Willum Warrain Women’s Program

MPF is proud to support Willum Warrain Aboriginal Association in Hastings, in particular, their weekly Women’s Program, which operates as a healing circle and a safe place for Aboriginal women to come together for friendship, yarning, and cultural activities.

Participants range in age from 16 to 70, so there is lots of sharing across
generations. This beautiful group focuses on increasing cultural knowledge and community connections, for example through dance, making emu feather skirts, building a shelter, replanting essential plants in the women’s area and continuing work on mastering weaving skills. Women’s weaving is shared with the broader non-Indigenous community via weekend workshops throughout the year.

Willum Warrain is also a great support to many Aboriginal students who attend local schools that MPF partners with.
